----- Staff & Teachers -----
|
- Betty
Baillargeon – Director of
Advancement – Mr. Baillargeon is new to SBS and spoke about her background
with United Way
and her plans for SBS. Her
background is in Fundraising and has a big job of raising the $300,000
that was promised this year as tuition assistance. She also spoke about how two parents are
chairing the Craft Fair Committee and is looking for volunteers.
- Mr.
McKenna – Headmaster – Mr.
McKenna welcomed our two newest members of the administration staff (Mrs.
B and Mrs Fitzgerald as Principal).
He wished Mr. Baginski well in his religious life (previous
principal). The Annual Fund will be
used for Tuition Assistance from now on and nothing else. Leadership program for seniors with
XSBS. Busing was discussed in great
length with parents. Many parents
from Windham
area are quite upset that the buses have been eliminated right before
school started. A committee will be
created by these parents along with Mr. Venditto to see if this issue can
be solved since many of these parents will be unable to bring their
children to SBS next year. Mr.
McKenna also spoke about the other budget cuts including buses for
Athletic Events after the fall season.
- Ms.
Fitzgerald – HS Principal – Ms.
Fitzgerald spoke about her new role as Principal. Back to School night has been changed to
Sept 16th due to football game on the 17th. She is pleased with the new book company
MBS. So far, so good with the new
service.
- Ms. Dillman – Middle School Principal- Ms. Dillman is teaching a class this year in
English. She is working on having
the lobbyist for Catholic Schools come to the school and speak about how
important it is for Catholic
School parents to be
involved in politics. The state is
looking to cut their budget and without parents involved, Catholic School services including the
school nurse may be cut.
- Mrs.
Colella – Dean of Students –
Mrs. Colella spoke about the new handbook and the dress code. Many dress code violations and her
“warnings” will stop this week and students will be given detentions for
violating the dress code. Seniors
are not allowed to leave early when their off class is during the last
period, nor wear non-uniform sweaters yet since these are senior privileges
which have not been earned yet.
- Mrs.
Brown – Director of Admissions –
Mrs. Brown informed the parents that the freshmen class consists of 83
students which is a good size with this economy. There are a total of 136 new students.
