Saint Bernard ~ Where "Saints" are Born

Dear Alumni,

I would like to thank you for supporting our Jubilee Annual Fund. For those of you I have yet to meet, my name is William P. McKenna and I have the pleasure of serving as the first Headmaster of Saint Bernard School. I follow in the footsteps of some amazing educational leaders including Fr. Edward Benedict, the first Principal of Saint Bernard; Br. Brendan Gerrity and Fr. Russell Boisvert. These pioneers were followed by many dedicated administrators who made significant contributions over the past fifty years. Their inspirational memories have been shared with me by visiting alums on a regular basis. I will strive to continue a tradition of compassionate Christian motivation for the young men and women in our charge.

I am pleased to report that our school is growing stronger than ever. Our enrollment is increasing each year, the leading colleges and universities continue to recognize our academic excellence, and our future is bright with capital enhancements on the near horizon. You will be kept informed of our plans. In the meanwhile, I can think of no better way to celebrate our Jubilee year than with this good news and with our expansion into a combined middle and high
school institution. Saint Bernard School is responding to the requests of many families seeking a quality, Catholic-based education beginning with the sixth grade. Along with our fellow Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools, we are on the leading edge of this model of education.

A written note cannot do justice to the great things that are taking shape. Our doors are always open to our alums. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and share our common hopes for Saint Bernard School. Come visit us on the hill, this special place where ‘Saints’ are born!

Best regards,
William P. McKenna
