Academics

Saint Bernard School provides its students with the opportunity to receive an education that will help them see their own futures.  Our teachers and guidance counselors help direct students through the educational process by overseeing their academic lives, finding their strengths, challenging and supporting them in their decisions, and stimulating their interests.

In the High School, sequential courses are offered in all college preparatory subjects, including Religious Studies and Fine Arts.  A four-track system is used:  Advanced Placement, Honors, Advanced College Preparatory, and College Preparatory.  A typical four-year program includes English, Math, Science, Social Studies, Religious Studies, Fine Arts, Physical Education and electives.  A total of 28 credits are required for graduation.See the links at the left for more detailed requirement information.

All Middle School curricula are coordinated with SBS High School requirements.  Middle School students study a core concentration in math, science, language arts, religion, and social studies each year.  Accelerated courses for qualified 8th graders are available in foreign language and math.  Courses in computer technology, music, art, and physical education, as well as language arts workshops, enrich the preparation for the high school years.See detailed requirements.

Saint Bernard School is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, and by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
